About the Department
The Department of Agricultural Economics and Extension is uniquely placed in the School of Agricultural Sciences because of the role it plays in linking social science disciplines to agricultural production, marketing, processing and retailing. We offer undergraduate and postgraduate programmes that cover an array of courses that fall within the following focal areas: food security and agricultural productivity, agribusiness and marketing, rural sociology and agricultural extension, and environmental and resource economics.
Besides training, we are involved in collaborative research with local and international partners on projects that are within our focal areas as well as other emerging issues that have socio-economic and policy implications such as climate change, rural household nutrition and land distribution.
