UNZA-Vet. Clinics
The UNZA-Vet clinics, in the department of Clinical Studies provide an opportunity to veterinary students for a unique practical clinical experience in a well-established animal hospital. The clinics comprise of a Small Animal Clinic (mainly for pets) and a Large Animal Clinic (for farm animals and horses) and a mobile house call and ambulatory service.
The clinics provide a consultancy, diagnostic and referral services to both the public and private practitioners. They are equipped to carry out daily consultations on both first line and second opinion and referral cases. The surgical unit provides soft tissue and orthopaedic surgeries, dental procedures, radiography, ultrasonography, Computed tomography, equine and canine endoscopy. The medical unit provides both individual and herd management consultations and treatment. The clinic also provides routine preventive veterinary advice and care such as vaccinations, deworming and neutering. For the game ranchers, farmers and those unable to bring their animals to the clinic, farm visits and house calls can be arranged. Admission facilities are available for very sick animals and limited boarding facilities for healthy pets and farm animals are available as well.
