Doctor of Philosophy in Animal Nutrition

Program Structure
Research Proposal: Students develop a detailed proposal outlining their intended research, which must be approved by faculty.
Literature Review: Comprehensive study of existing research to identify gaps and inform the research direction.
Data Collection: Involves experimental designs, field studies, and laboratory analyses to gather relevant data.
Research Areas
Nutritional physiology of various species (e.g., ruminants, monogastrics).
Development of sustainable feed strategies.
Impact of nutrition on animal health, reproduction, and growth.
Nutrient metabolism and utilization.

• Candidates must be Graduates of the University of Zambia or other recognized Universities who hold a Master’s degree in Agricultural Sciences or a related Science field;
• Candidates whom the university recognizes as having equivalent standing to holders of the Master’s Degree of the University;
• Candidates who do not possess the primary degree but have completed a Master’s degree;

Notwithstanding the provisions stipulated in a, b and c, an applicant for admission to the Doctor of philosophy programme may be required to take a qualifying examination and in certain cases to pursue an approved course in preparation.
