About the Department

ICT Support Services is a technical department in CICT comprising of three sections:

  • Telecommunication,
  • Information and Communications Technology support and
  • Networking.

ICT Support Services is responsible for the support and maintenance of IT infrastructure in the university.

The IT infrastructure refers to the composite hardware, software, network resources, and services required for the existence, operation, and management of the university IT environment.

The ICT Support Services is a technical department that assists students, staff, and faculty by addressing IT-related issues through a helpdesk system. It is responsible for installing, configuring, and maintaining university-owned hardware and software and managing software licenses and updates. The department also oversees user account management, ensuring secure access to systems such as email, student portals, and learning management platforms.

ICT Support Services Offered

1. Technical Support & Helpdesk Services

  • Assists students, staff, and faculty with IT-related issues (hardware, software, connectivity).
  • Manages a helpdesk/ticketing system for tracking and resolving issues.

2. Hardware & Software Management

  • Installs, configures, and maintains university-owned computers and devices.
  • Manages software licenses and updates for academic and administrative use.

3. User Account & Access Control

  • Manages user credentials (emails, student portals, learning management systems).
  • Ensures secure access through authentication systems (e.g., single sign-on).

4. E-Learning & Educational Technology Support

  • Supports E-Learning platforms like Moodle.
  • Assists in the integration of digital tools for teaching and learning.
  • Trains staff and students on using e-learning systems.

5. System Administration

  • Ensures end-user systems are updated, secure, and running efficiently.

6. Cybersecurity

  • Monitors for threats and applies security patches on end-user machines.
